TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC)- There's a new homeowner in Tuscaloosa.
The new Habitat for Humanity home is all the more special because it's now belongs to a tornado survivor.
Wednesday, friends, relatives and an extended family of supporters welcomed Sharon Horn at her new home.
"It's amazing, they're like angels. It's wonderful progress they've made in this particular neighborhood," Horn said.
Habitat for Humanity, along with other volunteer groups, made today possible. Loved ones joined Horn as they walked through the empty house and made plans where furniture would go. She lost her last home and most of her belongings in the April 27 tornado.
"When I made it home, nothing was there," Amber Coley, Horn's daughter, said. "I was afraid my mother was gone because I couldn't contact her. But I heard a faint cry in the background and I turned around and she was walking up the street."
The day of that tragedy seems far behind them and the new home gives them a better chance at a brighter future.
"We can have family gatherings and enjoy cooking and having outings," Horn said. "So just having your own place and locking your own door, entering into your castle. So this is my little castle."
